Stage plan

Sardinia is ideal for cyclists: you will find little-travelled country roads, beautiful stretches of coastline and idyllic shepherds’ paths in the interior. Cycling is a lot of fun here and car drivers are generally considerate of cyclists.

Over 1000 km uphill, downhill and along the sea.

Meeting point at Zurich airport, joint flight to Olbia.

Transfer to our 5-star hotel SMY CARLOS V ***** ALGHERO. Welcome and setting up of the bikes. Dinner together with sea view.

Trip into the hinterland to Sassari (85km/approx. 1’100Hm)

Our first drive takes us flat into the hinterland to Sassari, the second largest city in Sardinia. The region became famous above all for its villa splendour and gave Sardinia the image of a luxury island. Back we go over the undulating hinterland down to the coast. A nice stage to roll in with coffee (and shopping ) in Sassari.

Ride with lots of views to Porto Conto and Porto Torres (116km/716Hm)

Always along the sea to one of the westernmost tips of the island to Porto Conte. We pass through one of the most beautiful nature parks in Sardinia. From here we head north to the beautiful harbour of Porto Torres. Let's see if we can marvel at one of the big luxury liners while having coffee here. The loop takes us back to Alghero on pleasantly undulating terrain. A beautiful day.

Exit (royal stage) to Banari (114Km/1900Hm)

This day will be a dream. We enjoy the hilly hinterland, the view of the blue sea, drive past the many small villages with their churches and enjoy Banari. The name of the municipality with its 600 inhabitants derives from the Balar people, who built important works of the nuragic culture culture. We return via Monteleone, certainly with a coffee break, and from there to the west coast with its magnificent views. Cycling could not be more beautiful.

Exit Dreamlike West Coast (King Stage) 143Km/1800Hm)

The whole morning we enjoy the coastal road with a view of the sea, forgetting that every now and then a small incline awaits us. But who can think about the legs with this view. We enjoy our lunch stop in the beautiful town of Bosa, where the Temo also flows into the sea. The route takes us back through the hinterland past the reservoir Lago dell'Alto Temo. The last kilometres include a long climb. From there we let it roll down to the sea. A reason to celebrate life!

Trip to the north-westernmost tip to C apo Falcone (118Km/700Hm)

Capo Falcone - see and... love. A really beautiful ride into the blue awaits us today. Flat kilometres with a wonderful lunch in Stintino. Want to bet that... we'll have seafood again today? We return comfortably to Alghero, where we end the week together. Ciao bella Sardegna!
