Lisbon

Together we will fly to Portugal. Our trip starts in the historic city of Lisbon, where we visit the impressive Castelo de São Jorge and admire the majestic Belém Tower during the city tour. On the imposing city square "Praca do Comercio" we take a break from the hustle and bustle before we let ourselves be surprised by the Portuguese cuisine in the evening.

Day 2

Sunday, 12. May 2024

Lisbon – Grândola (115 km, 1100 m)

Today we leave Lisbon and start with the first stage to Grandola. We drive through the middle of the natural park "Serra da Arrábida". The park is especially known for its spectacular viewpoints, steep cliffs and its unique flora and fauna - So a true paradise for nature lovers. We may have the opportunity to stop in Setubal at the Old Market, where we can stock up on local delicacies and souvenirs. On the Troia Peninsula we cycle past some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal and enjoy the fresh sea air. With a little luck we spot a dolphin family on the coast. Arriving in Grandola, we toast the first stage together.

Day 3

Monday, 13. May 2024

Grândola – Vila Nova de Milfontes (92 Km, 800 Hm)

Along one of the most natural stretches of coastline in Europe, we marvel at the Costa Vicentina Natural Park. Breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean, wonderful beaches, small harbors and authentic fishing villages entice us to stay. Today's destination is the coastal town of Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, which also has a fantastic sandy beach right at our feet.

Day 4

Tuesday, 14. May 2024

Vila Nova de Milfontes – Monchique (89 km, 1600 m)

The small town of Vila Nova de Milfontes is located at the mouth of the Mira River. We are greeted again by the first rays of sunshine before we set off for our 3rd stage to Monchique. We continue cycling through the beautiful Costa Vicentina Nature Park with its diverse flora and fauna. Impressive high cliffs characterize today's bike tour and the refreshing Atlantic wind provides pleasant temperatures on the way.

Day 5

Wednesday, 15. May 2024

Monchique – Lagos (124 km, 1500 m)

Today we can hardly save ourselves from highlights. From Monchique we drive to the Praia da Bordeira. A wild beauty. Sand dunes, surf and cliffs - a beach like from an adventure movie. Isolated and far away from the big hustle and bustle. Don't forget your swimming trunks and bikini! We continue to Sagres and up to Cabo de Sao Vicente, the southwesternmost point of Europe. Our destination for today is called Lagos. Despite its popularity, the city has not devoted itself to mass tourism, but has been able to retain its distinctive character and Portuguese charm: Cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses with small eateries, bars and Portuguese street cafes. You simply have to love Lagos.

Day 6

Thursday, 16. May 2024

Lagos – Olhão bei Faro (135 Km, 1350 Hm)

We drive through the middle of Silves. Here, thousands of almond trees are in bloom, transforming the area into a beautiful white sea of blossoms. Did you know that the small town of São Brás de Alportel was once the center of cork production? Tomorrow we visit a traditional cork factory and watch how cork is transformed into trendy fashion - accessories.

Day 7

Friday, 17. May 2024

Stage Olhão (74 Km, 580 Hm)

Today we let the "corks pop", because today pretty much cork turns. Economically, cork is of the greatest importance as a bottle stopper. However, there is much more to the bark of the cork oak and we will take a closer look before the last stage of this impressive tour is coming up and we cycle to Tavira. Also known as the grace of the Algarve. Trade with the Mediterranean countries, the Arabs and later the North African colonies made Tavira a prosperous city. Tuna, wine and salt made the merchants rich and they built fancy villas along the river. A castle, countless churches, chapels and squares bear witness to the centuries-long presence of Romans, Arabs and Portuguese in Tavira. The graceful town lies on both sides of the Rio Gilhão river, which flows leisurely toward the sea. Fine white villas with peaked red roofs and curved iron balcony lattices stand in narrow streets, crowned by the ruins of a castle. We stroll through the pretty town before tackling the last bike kilometers to Olhão.
