Flight to South Africa
Today the journey begins. We meet at the airport in Zurich and fly together to Cape Town. Cape Town impresses with a rich history, cultural diversity and a dynamic art scene. The city centre offers a lively street life, while the suburbs with their historic buildings and gardens provide a charming contrast to the city's modernity.

Landing in Cape Town
Upon arrival in Cape Town, we complete all immigration formalities and are transferred to the hotel. After checking into our rooms and preparing our rental bikes, the afternoon is at leisure. In the evening we meet for welcome drinks, get to know each other and receive an overview of the entire itinerary.

Stellenbosch – Wellington (72 km, 610 Hm)
Our journey begins in Stellenbosch and takes us over the Helshogte Pass into the Huguenot Valley to Franschhoek, where we stop for lunch. Afterwards we continue our journey and reach our stage town Wellington.

Wellington – Game Safari Lodge (115 km, 1’760 Hm)
Today is the royal stage. We cross four passes, starting with the Bains Kloof Pass, where some "baboons" (monkeys) accompany us as spectators. We cross Mitchells Pass and arrive in Ceres, where we stop for lunch in a lovely restaurant garden. On our route we also pass the Theronsberg Pass and the Hottentskloof Pass. We spend the evening at the Game Lodge, where we relax in the pool and enjoy the evening with aperitifs and a fine dinner.

Safari Lodge – Game Drive and Relax Day
Today we spend the whole day in the South African wilderness. Today we go on two game drives in a 10,000 hectare game reserve. Our rangers take us to see animals we would normally only see in a zoo, including giraffes, cheetahs, lions, zebras, buffalos and rhinos. In between we enjoy breakfast and afternoon tea at the lodge and relax by the pool. In the evening we again let ourselves be enchanted by the wild atmosphere with excellent food.

Game Safari Lodge – Ashton (140 km, 980 hm)
Today's stage takes us through hilly and mountainous terrain to the Rooihoogte Pass at 1234 metres above sea level. This section gives us a taste of the Little Karoo, both in terms of scenery and temperature. After the descent to the small village of Koo, we head down through the Langeberge Valley via Montagu to Ashton. The green valleys with apricot, peach and cherry trees are a feast for the eyes.

Ashton – Ashton (60 km, 570 hm)
Today we take it a little easier and enjoy the day on the Breede River after a short ride. There are numerous vineyards and peach farms with beautiful flower gardens along our cycle tour. At lunchtime we stop at a winery and then enjoy a one-hour boat trip with a picnic basket. On our return to Montagu, we have time to relax.

Ashton – Napier (120 km, 1100 hm)
Today we cycle through the picturesque Overberg region, characterised by rolling hills, endless cornfields and lush vineyards, towards Napier. The route offers breathtaking views of the Riviersonderend mountain ranges and the peaceful countryside, which is particularly vibrant during harvest time. Once we arrive in Napier, we enjoy the charming small-town atmosphere and indulge in local specialities

Napier – Cape Agulhas (60 km, 200 hm)
Today we visit the southernmost town in Africa. On our route, we cross huge, harvested grain fields with constant ups and downs. Cape Agulhas marks the southernmost point of the African continent and is an unmissable highlight of our journey.

Cape Agulhas – Hermanus (145 km, 840 Hm)
Again today, the undulating topography and the wind provide plenty to talk about. We pass the impressive coastal landscape, possibly encounter roaming "baboons" and, with a bit of luck, see seals and penguins. Our stage destination is Hermanus, famous for its whale watching and the whale crier who tells us where and when he has spotted whales. We enjoy the hotel and a delicious dinner.

Today we drive along one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world. We are sure to see a seal colony lolling in the sun and perhaps penguins. Our destination today is the resort of Gordon's Bay.

Today we treat ourselves to a well-deserved rest day by the pool at the hotel or take a walk to Gordon's Bay. The surrounding area is also home to some beautiful wineries - no doubt a great place to unwind.

A programme full of contrasts awaits us today, not only in terms of the route but also the social divide in South Africa. Besides breathtaking coastal roads and spectacular views, we will also get to know the other side of South Africa: the townships. After passing some townships, we will continue our bike tour to the Cape of Good Hope. On the way to Simons Town we will experience many fascinating surprises.
