Tour of Sicily
19.09. – 26.09.2026
Sicily is everything – except Italy!
Sicily is not just Italy. It is a world unto itself.
The largest island in the Mediterranean surprises with its diversity: ancient cities, impressive coastlines, tranquil mountain landscapes, and traces of a history shaped by the Greeks, Arabs, and Normans. Our tour takes us from Palermo to the west coast to Marsala, through the rural interior of the island to Agrigento and Caltanissetta, to the tourist hotspot of Cefalù, and finally back to the sea to Palermo.
Sicily is more than just Mount Etna: it is a mosaic of cultures, landscapes and flavours. Road cyclists here can experience Mediterranean joie de vivre, architectural heritage and sporting challenges in their most beautiful form – a trip for anyone looking for authenticity.

Stage plan
Day 1
Saturday, September 19, 2026
Arrival: Zurich – Palermo
Flight to Palermo and transfer to the hotel. On a tour of the lively old town, we discover traces of the Greeks, Arabs, Normans and Spaniards – a fascinating mix that still characterises Palermo today.
Day 2
Sunday, 20 September 2026
Palermo – Castellammare del Golfo (82 km / 1’140 Hm)
The first stage takes us out of Palermo in a northwesterly direction – initially close to the city, then increasingly rural. Via Alcamo, we reach the coastline at Castellammare del Golfo. The last few kilometers along the gulf are a scenic treat. At our destination, we enjoy Sicilian small-town life with a sea view.
Day 3
Monday, September 21, 2026
Castellammare del Golfo – Marsala (91 km / 1’370 Hm)
Today, the route takes us further along the west coast of Sicily. We enjoy beautiful views of the coast as we climb up to Erice and descend the panoramic road to Trapani. We then continue along the “Via del Sale” through the impressive salt landscape with its windmills and basins – a real postcard motif. We ride the last few kilometers through farmland until we reach Marsala. Marsala is located in the west of the island and, with around 80,000 inhabitants, is considered Sicily's wine capital – with numerous wineries inviting you to sample their wares. Want to bet there'll be a nice glass of wine tonight?
Day 4
Tuesday, September 22, 2026
Marsala – Agrigento (139 km / 1’410 Hm)
Today we follow the southern coast of Sicily eastward. Between coastal towns, agricultural areas and views of the sea, climbs alternate with smooth passages. Once we reach our destination in Agrigento, there will be time to explore the city or the Valley of the Temples on your own. Those who still have energy can round off the day with a tour.
Day 5
Wednesday, September 23, 2026
Agrigento – Caltanissetta (70 km / 1’330 Hm)
Today we leave the coast and dive into the hilly interior of Sicily. The climbs on this stage are easy to master. The destination is Caltanissetta, a town in the heart of the island – originally characterized by mining, today quiet and authentic. The evening is for relaxation – or a stroll through the center.
Day 6
Thursday, September 24, 2026
Caltanissetta – Cefalù (107 km / 2’310 Hm)
The queen stage is a tough one: over 2,300 meters of elevation gain await us on the way from central Sicily back to the sea. The route climbs continuously for much of the day – a real challenge for the legs. But we are rewarded with a long descent that takes us directly to Cefalù with views of the Mediterranean Sea. Those who wish can end the day with a swim in the sea or an evening stroll.
Day 7
Friday, September 25, 2026
Cefalù – Palermo (78 km / 500 Hm)
To finish off, we take a leisurely ride along the coast towards Palermo. The route offers more beautiful views of the sea and plenty of time to reflect on the past few days. With the wind in our hair and the sea salt in our noses, we arrive back in the capital of Sicily.
