Tour of Holland
29.08 – 05.09.2026
Tulips, windmills and coastal breezes
In six stages, we will experience Holland at its best – on a road bike, with the wind at our backs and a view stretching as far as the eye can see.
Our tour starts in Amsterdam and takes us along the North Sea coast via The Hague to the historic fortified town of Brielle, continuing across islands near the Belgian border to the heart of the country. We cross vast polder landscapes, follow old river courses, roll through towns such as Gorinchem and Apeldoorn and finally reach modern Lelystad before returning to the capital. Between tulip fields, windmills, dykes and canals, we combine sporting challenges with culture and scenic enjoyment. This tour is a tribute to Holland, the land of cycling – flat, fast, diverse and simply incomparable.

Stage plan
Day 1
Saturday, August 29, 2026
Arrival: Zurich – Amsterdam
We will all meet at Zurich Airport and start our journey to Amsterdam. After checking into the hotel, there will be time to explore the Dutch capital: a walk along the famous canals (artificially created waterways), past historic merchant houses, the Rijksmuseum and the Jordaan district will get you in the mood for the tour. In the late afternoon, we will adjust the bikes and make final preparations. In the evening, we will have our first dinner together, where the Zollinger crew will welcome you and introduce the tour. The anticipation for the coming week is growing!
Day 2
Sunday, August 30, 2026
Amsterdam – The Hague – Brielle (approx. 115 km / approx. 250 Hm)
The tour begins with a ride along the North Sea coast – through the vast dune landscapes of Zandvoort and Scheveningen. Zandvoort is home to the popular Formula 1 race every year. Local hero Max Verstappen is cheered on by a sea of orange-clad fans. The tour continues to The Hague, the seat of the Dutch government, where it is worth taking a quick look at the Binnenhof and the Peace Palace. The tour continues to the island of Voorne-Putten and the fortified town of Brielle, where the "Geuzen" once fought against the Spanish.
Day 3
Monday, August 31, 2026
Brielle – Ossendrecht (approx. 110 km / approx. 150 Hm)
Today's stage takes us across several small islands and dams, including the impressive Haringvliet Bridge. The route runs through Zeeland with its wide polder landscapes and waterways until we reach the hotel in Ossendrecht near the Belgian border. The region is characterised by quiet avenues, old dykes and its proximity to the De Zoom–Kalmthoutse Heide National Park. Here, too, we enjoy the warm hospitality of the Dutch people.
Day 4
Tuesday, September 1, 2026
Ossendrecht – Gorinchem (approx. 109 km / approx. 140 Hm)
We leave the south-west and head east through the province of Noord-Brabant, passing fields, small villages and windmills. Our destination for the day awaits on the riverbank in the fortified town of Gorinchem, located directly at the mouth of the Linge where it flows into the Waal. The historic old town and well-preserved city walls make Gorinchem a real insider tip.
Day 5
Wednesday, September 2, 2026
Gorinchem – Apeldoorn (approx. 118 km / approx. 400 Hm)
Today we head east and slowly leave the flatlands behind us. The route takes us through the green heart of the Netherlands, past Utrecht, then through wooded regions and national parks. The destination is Apeldoorn, known for the royal palace Het Loo and its magnificent avenues.
Day 6
Thursday, September 3,2026
Apeldoorn – Lelystad (approx. 120 km / approx. 120 Hm)
The longest stage takes us northwest through the Veluwe, a wooded nature reserve with heathland and wildlife. After a flat section, we reach the modern city of Lelystad, the heart of the province of Flevoland, which was reclaimed from the sea. Highlights include the Batavialand Museum and the replica of the historic sailing ship "Batavia". The Batavia was a merchant ship that was supposed to sail to Java with goods, silver and over 300 people on board. However, on its maiden voyage in 1629, it ran aground on a reef off the Australian coast. What followed was a dramatic story of mutiny, murder and survival that ranks among the most spectacular stories in maritime history. Parts of the wreck were salvaged in Australia and are now on display there.
Day 7
Friday, September 4, 2026
Lelystad – Amsterdam (approx. 101 km / approx. 100 Hm)
The last day takes us back west – through the Markerwaard and over the Houtribdijk, a 27-kilometre-long dam with spectacular views over the Markermeer. We approach Amsterdam from the north and reach the city in a stylish finale. After arriving in the capital, we celebrate the end of this impressive tour together – full of wind, wide open spaces, water and great moments. This afternoon, we can use the time to stroll through the narrow streets and canals of Amsterdam and buy souvenirs. In the evening, we will enjoy a final cosy dinner, where we can look back on this wonderful tour.
