Three-Country Ride

Our tour from Budapest to Venice began in Budapest with the first kilometers heading towards Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe. Riding on well-developed cycle paths, we passed through varied landscapes and reached the lakeshore after a long day.

The following stages brought us new impressions again and again: vineyards, river valleys, and hilly sections demanded both stamina and focus. A highlight was the third day, when we first crossed the border from Hungary into Croatia and later into Slovenia, before reaching Maribor as our stage destination. One rainy day forced us to take the train from Maribor to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, but this did not affect the good mood. In Italy, the route continued over challenging climbs to the Adriatic coast, where the sun once again provided perfect conditions. The final stage led us along flat roads through the lagoon landscape until we arrived in Venice.

Our journey ended there after around 800 kilometers – a week that took us from Hungary through Croatia and Slovenia to Italy, leaving us with many lasting impressions.
