The Wall of Fame – No mercy for your calves

Our road bike tour through the Italian Alps and Dolomites began in St. Moritz with a successful prologue over the Bernina Pass and a thunderstorm just before the rain set in. On the first “hammer day,” Mortirolo, Vivione, and Presolana demanded full concentration, but we were rewarded with magnificent views. The following day brought rain, thunderstorms and flat tires, but luckily the sun was shining again at Lago d’Idro – and dinner with live music by the lake made all the hardships forgotten.

In perfect weather, the third stage took us through river valleys, gorges and vineyards up to Sopramonte with its legendary 19% gradient. In the Dolomites, Passo Pordoi and Campolongo awaited us with spectacular panoramic views before we stopped for refreshments in Corvara. The route to Prad was partly on fantastic South Tyrolean cycle paths and partly on the Stelvio Pass, which some of us climbed to the summit (!).

The grand finale took us all over the Stelvio Pass, with a detour to the Umbrail Pass and a sweet break with Graubünden nut cake before we rolled over the Ofen Pass into the Engadin.

Happy, exhausted, and full of unforgettable impressions, our trip ended in St. Moritz—a week full of challenges, natural wonders, and the best atmosphere.
