Nous traverserons l&rsquo;une des plus belles r\u00e9gions du Canada : d&rsquo;immenses for\u00eats, des lacs limpides et des glaciers. Les chances de rencontrer un ours, un \u00e9lan ou un wapiti sur les routes d\u00e9sertes sont grandes. Malgr\u00e9 une nature abondante, il reste suffisamment de temps pour visiter les deux m\u00e9tropoles Vancouver et Calgary. Quelques moments forts de notre voyage sont certainement la travers\u00e9e de ce qui est probablement la plus belle route du Canada, l&rsquo;Icefields Parkway, le voyage en train de Kamloops \u00e0 Japser en plein c\u0153ur des Rocheuses, la f\u00eate nationale du 1er juillet ou la visite du plus grand festival de rod\u00e9o du monde, le Calgary La premi\u00e8re petite \u00e9preuve de courage nous attend lorsque nous traversons le pont suspendu Lions Gate et profitons de la vue sur Vancouver. Peu apr\u00e8s, nous rencontrons les Chippendales (pas ceux-l\u00e0 - mais cela se m\u00e9rite...), l'un des plus beaux points de vue sur le port et la ville de Vancouver. Nous suivons la Sea-to-Sky Highway en direction du nord. \u00c0 notre gauche, la mer, nous traversons de magnifiques for\u00eats - un peu la For\u00eat-Noire - mais avec la mer. La petite ville de Squamish nous montre d\u00e9j\u00e0 un peu de la beaut\u00e9 sauvage du Canada. Nous devrions entendre de nombreux klaxons aujourd'hui lorsque nous roulons avec nos maillots du Canada, ce qui est bien s\u00fbr un must. Le paradis du ski d'hiver et la station de descente d'\u00e9t\u00e9 de Whistler nous attendent. C'est donc un peu Zermatt ou Flims au Canada. En 2010, les Jeux olympiques d'hiver s'y sont d\u00e9roul\u00e9s. L'endroit est n\u00e9 de la ru\u00e9e vers l'or de 1858, lorsque la route des cano\u00ebs qui traversait le lac Harrison, une route qui contournait le Fraser Canyon, a rencontr\u00e9 le Fraser ici. \u00c0 l'apog\u00e9e de la ru\u00e9e vers l'or, Lillooet aurait compt\u00e9 20 000 habitants. En 1912, la localit\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 reli\u00e9e au chemin de fer par le Canadian Pacific Railway. Aujourd'hui, Lillooet est un village endormi avec peu d'habitants et un h\u00f4tel l\u00e9gendaire avec saloon. Celui-ci sera enti\u00e8rement occup\u00e9. Notre destination, Cache Creek, se trouve dans la partie sud de la Colombie-Britannique, sur le plateau de Thompson. La rivi\u00e8re Bonaparte traverse Cache Creek, tandis que le fleuve Fraser coule au sud de la commune. De nombreux fossiles v\u00e9g\u00e9taux datant de l'\u00e9oc\u00e8ne ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couverts sur le territoire de la commune. Cache Creek avait une importance historique en tant qu'\u00e9tape sur l'ancienne Cariboo Road. La ville est situ\u00e9e au confluent de la rivi\u00e8re North Thompson et de la rivi\u00e8re South Thompson pour former la rivi\u00e8re Thompson, non loin du lac Kamloops. En tant que base commerciale avantageuse, Kamloops \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 depuis plus de 2000 ans la zone d'implantation du groupe tribal Secwepemc. En raison de sa situation g\u00e9ographique, Kamloops b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d'un climat continental, ce \u00e0 quoi on ne s'attendrait pas ici. M\u00eame depuis l'avion, ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne est bien visible. La travers\u00e9e du col de Sunwapta avec vue sur le Columbia Icefield est certainement un autre point fort de ce voyage. Il semble presque impossible de savoir d'o\u00f9 viennent soudainement tous ces touristes. Toujours sur l'Icefields Parkway, nous prenons la direction de Banff. Non sans avoir vu le Peyto Lake et le Bow Lake, bien s\u00fbr. Le lac Peyto se trouve dans les Rocheuses canadiennes et est aliment\u00e9 par des glaciers (dont le glacier Peyto du m\u00eame nom). Il est repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 dans de nombreux livres d'images sur le Canada en raison de sa couleur turquoise frappante. Cette coloration de l'eau est due \u00e0 de fines particules de roche (la poudre de roche ou lait de glacier), \u00e9galement appel\u00e9e rock flour ou glacial flour, qui se d\u00e9verse dans le lac avec l'eau de fonte. Aujourd'hui, nous laissons les Rocheuses derri\u00e8re nous, ce qui est assez impressionnant quand on regarde en arri\u00e8re. Devant nous se trouve Calgary. Pour \u00eatre pr\u00e9cis, apr\u00e8s une rude mont\u00e9e suivie d'une belle vue sur la ville et le tremplin des Jeux olympiques. Nous traversons la ville pour rejoindre notre dernier h\u00f4tel. Toute la ville est en \u00e9tat d'urgence, car c'est le Stampede - le plus grand rod\u00e9o du monde. Nous assisterons \u00e0 la d\u00e9monstration des cow-boys et cow-girls sauvages.
